Why do I have to take out an insurance policy for my belongings and the property I am renting?
When renting an apartment or a house, it is compulsory to take out “a multirisque habitation” (comprehensive housing insurance) policy. It is a legal requirement to insure your belongings and the property you are going to live in, regardless of the insurance that the owner has taken out for the same property.
